We are: Black British Nigerian, is a multimedia project which explores the complexity behind the identity of Black British Nigerians who have grown up either exclusively in the UK, or partially. Interviews with Black British Nigerians reveal the various nuances surrounding self-identification, the conflicts, the delights, the perceived value of this identity, and the hopes Black British Nigerians have for the future.
As a Black British Nigerian myself, I created this project as a way to engage with fellow self-identifying Black British Nigerians to explore in a wider context, the ever-shifting tightrope of this dual identity. Also to provide a platform for those who relate, to engage with and be encouraged to explore their identities further.
